Polk Elementary School, built in 1960, is located in the heart of the historic "Old South Baton Rouge" neighborhood, physically located at 408 East Polk Street in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Currently, there are approximately 225 students enrolled in pre-kindergarten through 5th grade with an ample gifted program for pre-kindergarten through 4th grade.
Our faculty consists of 18 classroom teachers, including strong resources in special education, speech therapy, literacy coaching, art instruction, physical education, reading intervention instruction, library media services, timeout room moderator, school nurse as well a dedicated cafeteria, custodial, and paraeducator staff.
The Polk administration provides proactive approachable and personable service, comprising our principal, executive secretary, guidance counselor, administrative clerk, instructional specialist, and interactive parental involvement coordinator.

Programs: Primary Self Contained, Special Option Academy, Prekindergaten Gifted, Kindergarten Gifted, 1st through 4th grade Gifted, as well traditional Prekindergarten through 5th grade.
During the 2013/2014 school year, the Gifted and Talented Program extends through 4th grade with applications handled by the East Baton Rouge Schools Office of Gifted, Talented, and Special Services.
